Drainage Solutions & French Drains in Corbin, KY

The easiest water problem to fix is the one that never reaches your home. HydroCore designs and installs French drains, underground downspout drainage, surface drains, and water diversion systems that move water away from your foundation, crawl space, and basement before it can cause damage.

Why drainage matters

Most moisture problems start outside the house.

Every inch of rain on your roof sends a large amount of water to just a few downspouts. If that water, and the water running off your yard, collects near the foundation, it has to go somewhere. Often that's into your crawl space or basement.

Southeastern Kentucky's hillsides, clay soils, and heavy storms make this a common problem. Poor drainage around a property can contribute to:

  • Foundation moisture
  • Flooded crawl spaces
  • Basement water intrusion
  • Erosion
  • Mold
  • Structural damage
1

Downspouts dumping at the foundation

Roof water lands right next to the house and soaks straight down along the walls.

2

Ground sloping toward the home

Settled soil or poor grading sends surface water toward the foundation instead of away from it.

3

Hillside runoff

Water running down a slope collects against the uphill side of the house.

4

Low spots & soggy areas

Water that pools in the yard or near the house and stays for days.

5

Sump water with nowhere to go

A sump pump discharging right beside the house just cycles the same water back.

Warning signs

Signs your property has a drainage problem

Walk around your home during or right after a heavy rain. That's when drainage problems are easiest to spot.

Standing water near the house

Puddles along the foundation that linger long after the rain stops.

Overflowing gutters

Water spilling over gutters or shooting out of downspouts at the wall.

Erosion & washouts

Soil washing away, exposed foundation, or gullies forming in the yard.

Wet crawl space or basement

Water inside the home after storms is often a drainage problem outside.

Soggy lawn areas

Spots that stay muddy, spongy, or green when the rest of the yard is dry.

Stains on the foundation

Water lines, white residue, or mildew on the outside of foundation walls.

Cracked walkways & patios

Concrete heaving, settling, or cracking where water collects underneath.

A sump pump that runs constantly

Often means surface water is soaking in right next to the foundation.

Drainage services

Drainage solutions we install

Every lot is different. We choose the right combination of systems based on where the water comes from, how your property slopes, and where it can safely go.

French drains

A gravel-filled trench with perforated pipe that collects groundwater and surface water and carries it away from problem areas.

Underground downspout drainage

Buried pipe that carries roof water from your downspouts to a safe discharge point, away from the foundation.

Downspout extensions

A simple, affordable way to move roof water farther from the house when a full underground system isn't needed.

Surface drains

Channel or trench drains that capture water running across driveways, patios, and walkways.

Catch basins

Grated collection boxes placed at low spots to gather pooled water and send it into the drainage piping.

Drainage piping

Properly sloped solid and perforated pipe that connects your drainage system and carries water where it needs to go.

Foundation drainage

Drainage along the foundation that relieves water pressure against walls and footings.

Water diversion

Swales, grading corrections, and diversion that redirect hillside and yard runoff around the home.

Sump discharge systems

Buried discharge lines that carry sump pump water well away from the house so it doesn't cycle right back.

Matching the fix to the problem

Which drainage solution solves which problem?

This is a general guide. Many properties need more than one, and the inspection is how we figure out the right combination.

Getting to the core of the problem

Drainage is one piece of the moisture puzzle.

A drainage company may install a French drain. A waterproofing company may work only inside. We look at the whole property.

If water has already reached your crawl space or basement, there may be mold, damaged insulation, or deteriorated framing to deal with too. Because HydroCore handles all of it, we can stop water outside, protect the space inside, and repair any damage that's already happened, all in one plan.

How it works

Our drainage process

Follow the water, find where it's going wrong, and give it a better path.

  1. Free inspection

We walk the property and look at gutters, downspouts, grading, slopes, low spots, the foundation, and any water getting into the crawl space or basement.

  2. Trace the water

Where it comes from, where it collects, and where it can safely be discharged on your property.

  3. Explain your options

What we found, how serious it is, what needs attention now, what can wait, and what each option will accomplish.

  4. Plan the system

Pipe routes, slope, drain locations, and discharge points designed around your lot and landscaping.

  5. Install

French drains, downspout drainage, surface drains, catch basins, and diversion, installed with proper slope so water keeps moving.

  6. Restore & protect

We clean up the work area, and if water has already caused damage inside, we take care of that too.

FAQ

Drainage questions

What is a French drain?

A French drain is a trench filled with gravel and a perforated pipe. Water soaks into the gravel, enters the pipe, and flows by gravity to a safe discharge point away from your home. It's one of the most common ways to handle groundwater and soggy areas.

How much does a French drain or drainage system cost?

It depends on the length of the system, how deep it needs to be, the slope of your property, where the water can be discharged, and what's in the way, like driveways, patios, or landscaping. After a free inspection, we'll recommend what's needed and explain what it will accomplish.

Can't I just add downspout extensions?

Sometimes that's all you need, and we'll tell you if it is. Extensions are a good, affordable fix for mild problems. When there's a lot of roof water, a slope toward the house, or extensions get in the way of mowing and walking, underground downspout drainage is usually the better long-term option.

Will fixing drainage stop water in my crawl space or basement?

In many cases, outside drainage corrections make a big difference, and sometimes they solve the problem completely. Other homes also need interior drainage, a sump pump, or encapsulation. We'll explain what's likely needed based on what we find.

Where does the water go?

Drainage water is carried by gravity to a safe discharge point on your property, such as a lower part of the yard, away from the foundation and neighboring structures. We plan the discharge location before anything is installed.

Will a drainage project tear up my yard?

Installing underground drainage does require digging, but we plan routes carefully and clean up when the work is done. We'll talk through what to expect and how the area will look afterward before we start.

Does insurance cover drainage work?

Coverage depends on your policy and what caused the damage, so please contact your insurance company to see if your policy covers drainage work or related water damage repairs. We're happy to communicate with your insurance agent, assist with their questions, and answer any questions you have along the way.
